Chocolate French toast
November 14th, 2008 | Written by jfolkmann | Topic: Breakfast, Dessertmmmmm…chocolate. Bite sized chocolate morsels of goodness. This delicious combination of breakfast and dessert will have you making them for both. I guarantee when you serve these you’ll be eating them straight from the pan. (Original recipe from Donna Hay.)

- 16 slices of soft baguette
- 100g dark chocolate – melted
- 2 eggs – beaten
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp icing sugar – sifted (plus extra for dusting)
- butter for frying
Spread 1/2 of the slices of bread with the melted chocolate and sandwich together with the other 1/2. ( I put chocolate on both sides…making it extra chocolatey!)
Mix eggs, milk and icing sugar and then dip sandwiches into egg mixture. Cook in a frying pan over medium heat until golden brown. Serve warm and dust with icing sugar.

I love french toast, and I love chocolate even more. This sounds like the best dessert for breakfast ever!

I just made french toast with kugelhopf and cream cheese this morning. This reminds me of a chocolate croissant which is one of my favorite things in the world. And which issue of Donna Hay or is it one of her books.

Amber – It’s one of her books. “The instant cook“. There are some decent recipes.
