The sauce comes from The Better Homes & Gardens Barbecue Book 1969 and the recipe holds up just as well today. The book was another great find from our estate sale adventures.

- 1 ½ teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon hot chili powder

- 1 teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon dry mustard

Combine all ingredients for the sauce. Simmer for 30 minutes. Remove onion and baste sauce on to chicken. Place chicken on the BBQ and continue to baste as the chicken is cooking.
